Patrick McMurtry was born in 1947 in St. Helena California
Working with everything from oil on cnvas, melted found plastics, clay, and just about anything else available. Patrick delves into a reality that only he can know from dreams past, present and future. He describes it as a "tingling feeling" that urges him to create, and he refers to his style as "wild".
Patrick is a self-educated artist who has lived in the Valley of the Moon all of his life. His studies began when he first saw the hotrod drawings of Stanley Mouse and Big Daddy Roth. He has since studied the teachings of just about all artists in history, with major influences being: Max Ernst in Art, Frank Zappa in Music, and Mary Shelly and Ralph "Sonny" Barger in writing.
These days, Patrick lives on a farm in Glen Ellen, works in his studio daily and nightly, and continues his position of 20+ years at the Sonoma Development Center.
